Launches a feature rich e-commerce portal and an augmented reality app

To address the exponential demand of digital media usage by its consumers, H&R Johnson (India), India’s leading integrated lifestyle solution provider today announced the launch of a state of the art e-commerce portal http://www.johnsonstore.in/. The portal allows consumers to choose tiles online in a variety of ways – by size, by application area, by sub-brand etc.

The portal carries features like the Tile Space Visualiser which allows a user who is planning to buy online to see how their selected tile would look in different living spaces as well also see how a combination of two matching or different tiles would appear on the wall or floors of a living space. The portal also builds in a tile calculator which informs number of tiles to be bought basis area to be tiled, cost estimator and multiple online payment options. Presently launched as a pilot, the portal will be available to consumers across select cities in Maharashtra for buying Johnson Tiles online.

H&R Johnson today also launched a unique augmented reality application available for tablets on the android platform. The Johnson Augmented Reality app helps users to visualize how their own walls and tiles would look with their selection of any tiles from the Johnson range in a real environment, which in turn helps to minimize time in decision making. The app captures the live feed from surrounding with the rear camera and displays the same along with desired virtual tiles placed over the wall/floor surface providing a clear understanding of how the surrounding would look after placing the real tiles.

Commenting on this occasion, Mr. Sushil Matey, Chief Operating Officer, H&R Johnson stated “Our engagement with consumers in the digital platform has shown an increase demand for product experience in the online space. We presently have the largest Facebook fan base in the category with over 2 lakh fans. As a brand Johnson has always taken the lead in offering innovative products and solutions.

Our feature-rich e-commerce portal provides a very user friendly online buying experience & will enable us to further capitalize on the increased purchasing power of the middle income group & business opportunities that small towns & cities offer. With the launch of affordable 3G & 4G services along with cheaper smartphones expecting to further fuel the e-commerce boom in India, our ability to provide innovative and quality product offering will benefit the consumer segments across geographies.”

To begin with H & R Johnson will only be offering tiles and will later add bath products to its online selling portfolio. Banking on its robust back end operations H&R Johnson is upbeat about its logistic management to cater to the rising demand through its House of Johnson stores. The business model for the online endeavour is designed keeping in mind flexibility & convenience for today’s tech-savvy generation.
