Vibha Bakshi’s National Award-winning documentary to be screened by Asia Society in New York

Ahead of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the Asia Society will host a showing of Vibha Bakshi’s Indian National Award-winning documentary film, Daughters of Mother India, in New York on Tuesday, November 10 at the Asia Society and Museum at 6.30 p.m. The screening is also supported by Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women.

More than a documentary, Daughters of Mother India has become a movement to encourage change. Filmmaker Vibha Bakshi probes judges, police officers, teachers, activists and even street performers that are fighting against gender violence on a daily basis, while simultaneously showing the critical role that each one of these social actors must play to bring real change in India.

Vibha Bakshi said, “The screening with Asia Society and Goldman Sachs 10,000 Women, and the ensuing panel discussion is built on the premise that partnerships between development and business experts can effect positive action around issues of women’s security and empowerment. The evening is positioned to enhance dialog, generate ideas around positive reinforcement and further collaborative initiatives for women’s safety and empowerment which can play a significant role in fostering economic growth.”
