Mithibai’s Paparazzi celebrates Friendship Day with more than 200 senior citizens

Mumbai, Maharashtra, 7th August 2016: It was an exceptional day for nearly 200 senior citizens this Sunday on 7th August, as students of Mithibai Colleges’ Media Festival ‘Paparazzi’ visited Cardinal Gracias Destitutes Home and Assisi Bhavan, two old age homes in the city and brightened the day of its’ residents. It no longer comes as a surprise when one talks about the atrocities and emotional turmoil faced by the senior class. However, fun filled activities were held, and sugar free treats in association with Mr. Satyanarayan Agarawal from Janta Sweets, were distributed.

The day started with the students visiting the first old age home in the morning and another group of students visiting the latter towards evening. A mesmerizing singing performance delighted the audience, after which they were brought back to their childhood days with an entertaining round of Housie, followed by a great deal of joyous dancing on old tunes. Being Friendship Day, a wide smile was brought to their faces as students tied Friendship bands to each of them.

“They are usually so quiet and lost in their thoughts, we’ve never seen them participating so vibrantly. Though their children come to visit, a day filled with so many activities and refreshing company is what made them happy. We thank the entire Team of Paparazzi for giving us their precious time,” says Sister Mamta who has been with Assisi Bhavan for a long time.

When asked about the success of the event, the Principal of Mithibai College, Dr. Rajpal Shripat Hande says, “Mithibai being the Hub of various festivals, an event as such was never thought of before. We neglect and undervalue the woes faced by our senior citizens, but it’s overwhelming to see the efforts put in by the young generation. I’m proud of the Paparazzi team for carrying out this initiative.”

While Paparazzi’s first social activity of distributing lunch to over 250 underprivileged people had an amazing response, social acts for the upcoming Sunday have also been planned. The next initiative will conclude with the distribution of books, clothes, toys and stationery to children in orphanages on 14th August.

The Paparazzi team has been active with their social endeavors. Earlier this month, the students had organized a street play titled ‘Anna Apoorna’, about the wastage of food at Juhu beach and Carter road which was witnessed by more than 500 people. They also helped in this years’ Degree College admission process by installing admission kits in classrooms. These kits comprised of all the necessary stationery items like pens, pencils, staplers, erasers, etc. Bottles of water were also distributed by them to all teachers, students and parents involved in the admissions of the Unaided Courses.
