Bank of Maharashtra celebrates 82nd Foundation Day

Olympian Sakshi Malik, Wrestling champion, was felicitated at the ceremony

New Delhi, Sep 16, 2016: Bank of Maharashtra, one of the oldest public sector banks in India, celebrated its 82nd Foundation Day today in Le Meridian, New Delhi. On the occasion, Bank of Maharashtra’s Chairman and Managing Director, Mr. S. Muhnot felicitated Sakshi Malik, the bronze medal winner at the Rio Olympics this year. The ceremony was attended by Mr. C. K. Varma, Zonal Manager of the Delhi Zone, Bank of Maharashtra staff along with their customers.

On the occasion, Mr. Muhnot said, “Bank of Maharashtra started off as a single office in Pune in 1935 and has today established a pan-India network of 1896 branches, a workforce of 14701 people, and a customer base of 25 million people. We hope to continuously transform as a bank to adapt to the ever-changing dynamics of the banking sector to enables us to serve our customers across the country.”

Speaking on the felicitation of Sakshi Malik, he added, “It is an honour to have Ms Sakshi Malik with us on the occasion of our Foundation Day. Bank of Maharashtra as an organization encourages sports and sportspeople in its workforce and it gives us great pride that someone like Ms. Malik is achieving great feats in the field and doing India proud.”

A concurrent ceremony also took place in Pune, presided over by Mr. RK Gupta, Executive Director. Mr. Narendra Kabra, General Manager, IT and Operations, Rajbhasha was also present on the occasion. Valued Customers of the Bank were invited to the ceremony from the three Zonal offices in Pune.
