ESPN Films presents: O.J.: Made in America

2017 Academy Award® Winner for Best Documentary Feature

Five-Part Documentary airing exclusively on SONY ESPN and SONY ESPN HD beginning 30th April

ESPN, in collaboration with Sony Pictures Network, brings the Academy Award-Winning documentary – O.J.: Made in America to India. The film, directed by award-winning filmmaker Ezra Edelman, was the most acclaimed documentary of 2016, and will debut in India as a five-part series exclusively on SONY ESPN and SONY ESPN HD beginning Sunday 30th April at 12PM and continuing each Sunday until 28th May.

O.J.: Made in America is a defining cultural tale of modern America. Two decades after NFL legend, commentator and actor O.J. Simpson stood trial for the murders ofhis wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend, Ron Goldman, OJ: Made in America revisits - and redefines – one of the most widely covered criminal trials of all time. At the end of a saga that seems to be a search for the real truth about O.J. Simpson -- who he is, what shaped him, what he did -- what's revealed is more than that:  a collection of indelible, unshakeable, and haunting truths about ourselves and about race, violence, celebrity, policing and criminal justice in America.

Commenting on the film, Edelman said, “I was interested in the history that led up to that point in time in 1994, which would help explain what exactly went into making the trial as fascinating and complicated as it was. With O.J.: Made in America, I'm trying to tell a story about a subject that a lot of people think they knew everything about, and hopefully we found a way to add some texture and nuance to that conversation.”

Drawing upon more than seventy interviews -- from longtime friends and colleagues of Simpson, to recognizable protagonists of the murder investigation, to observers and commentators with distinct connections to the story -- the documentary is an engrossing, compelling, and unforgettable look at a tantalizing saga.

Commenting on the premiere of this extraordinary documentary in India, Ramesh Kumar, Vice President, Head of ESPN India and South Asia said, We are very proud that ‘Academy Award-winning’ is now the latest accolade for ESPN Films. O.J.: Made in America represents ESPN’s first Academy Award win and we are delighted to work with Sony Pictures Networks to bring such a powerful, provocative and engrossing film to fans in India on SONY ESPN.  ESPN Films consistently brings to life some of sports’ most compelling stories and this one is particularly special.”

ESPN FILMS ON SONY ESPN AND SONY ESPN HD
The film is part of the ongoing ESPN Films series on SONY ESPN and SONY ESPN HD, which first debuted on Indian television last year. The series has won countless awards and is credited with revitalizing and revolutionizing the art of the sports documentary. It’s diverse range of films come from an equally diverse array of filmmakers, each telling specific stories from the world of sport as vehicles to look at themes beyond sports -- highlighting the characters, events and intersections with society.

Yet another special premiere this April is that of ‘The Little Master’ – a film on the most worshipped cricket in the world, Sachin Tendulkar. The film, directed by Gotham Chopra will be aired on 23rd April a day before Sachin’s 44th birthday.
