Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra inaugurates Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University

~India’s first University to integrate Peace with Technology for Holistic Education~

Pune, 12th August 2017: Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra Shri. Devendra Fadnavis today inaugurated the Dr. Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University (WPU) in Pune, India’s first University to integrate Peace with Technology for Holistic Education. MIT Group, a self-financed institution in the city’s Kothrud area has been awarded the University status by the Maharashtra government.   

The MIT Group has a rich legacy of four decades of pioneering academic excellence with a strong global alumni base across sectors. The launch of the MIT-WPU sees the onset of a new paradigm in the education sector, as students embark on a journey that does not merely give them a professional degree, but aims to transform their lives and reorient them.

MIT-WPU University is focused on being the change that is needed in the world today by sensitizing and understanding the human dimensions of conflict, and developing a toolbox of transferable skills such as negotiation, peace building, technology and management. These skills will enable graduates from various diverse programs to succeed in peace building.

On the prestigious occasion, Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri. Devendra Fadnavis said, “MIT-WPU is the World’s first Peace University. While growing in leaps and bounds in the field of education across the country, the MIT Group has left a strong positive impact not just on students but also on a society as a whole. I am of the strong belief that with the establishment of this University, the education sector will witness a sea-change. I am sure the University will inculcate top qualities and skill sets among the youth while embedding right values and ethos.”

Commenting on the inauguration, UNESCO Chair-holder Prof. Dr. Vishwanath D. Karad - Founder President, MIT World Peace University, said, “It was my dream that India should have a university where peace and spirituality would form an integral part of the curriculum, such as MIT-WPU. At MIT-WPU, the mission is to provide holistic education to create complete, well rounded leaders of tomorrow who, besides excelling in their professional spheres would also be ambassadors of global peace.”

Mr. Rahul V Karad, Executive president of Dr Vishwanath Karad MIT World Peace University said, “MIT-WPU University is India’s first university in the field of Holistic Education and is an aspirational university for students searching for a world class education. The University is set to create a benchmark by associating with World’s known Scientists, Nobel Laureates, Researchers, Scholars, Academicians, Philosophers, Technocrats and Successful Entrepreneurs.

Also present at the event were Dr. Michael Nobel, Founder of Nobel Sustainability Trust,; H.H. Dada J.P. Vaswanji, Spiritual Guru, Sadhu Vaswani Mission, who was felicitated for “99 years of Selfless Contribution to Humanity” and Padma Vibhushan Shri Raghunath Mashelkar, former DG of CSIR.. Reputed guests from the fields of Science, Technology, Music, Spirituality, and Education also graced this ceremony. 
The conferring of university status on MIT is in a sense a testimony to its unique culture of value based education and the impact it has had on successive batches of students. The University offers various prominent courses including Global Degree Programs in the fields of Bachelor of Technology (B. Tech), Economics, Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.), Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master’s Program in Government (MPG).
