Celebrations of “World Post Day” on 9th October’2017 by Maharashtra Postal Circle
Maharashtra Postal Circle has
organized weeklong celebrations – National Postal Week starting from 9th
October’2017 till 14th October’2017 in each of its 6 regions i.e
Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad and Goa. Each day of the week has been dedicated to different operational aspects
of Post Office like Banking Day, Philately Day, Postal Life Insurance Day,
Business Development Day and Mails Day.
The Postal week celebrations
commenced with celebrations of “World Post Day” on 09th October’2017
at Mumbai GPO. Shri Ajoy Mehta, IAS BMC
Commissioner was the Chief Guest of the function. Shri H.C.Agrawal, Chief
Postmaster General, Shri V.K.Gupta, Postmaster General (Mails Management), Shri
K.S.Bariar, General Manager (Finance) and Shri Ganesh Sawaleshwarkar,
Postmaster General, Mumbai and Pune Regions were also present during the
function.
An album consisting of set of
11 Ramayana Stamps was presented to the Chief Guest by Shri H.C.Agrawal, Chief
Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle.
These stamps were released by Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi at
Varanasi on 22nd September, 2017.
Department of Posts had launched All India Letter Writing
Campaign “Dhai Akhar” with the theme “Dear Bapu (Mahatma Gandhi) you inspire
me...” on 24th June, 2017. Maharashtra Postal Circle had given wide
publicity to the campaign and as a
result, total 61358 entries were received in Maharashtra Circle. Circle level committee of juries consisting
of eminent personality in Gandhian Philosophy from a Manibhavan, Gandhi
Sangrahalay Mumbai selected the best 12 entries. The jury members as well as the winners of the
best 12 entries of this competition were felicitated during the function. The
names of jury members and winners are attached herewith.
