INAUGURATION OF AADHAR ENROLMENT-CUM-UPDATION CENTRE AT MUMBAI GPO ON 30.11.2017

in agreement with UIDAI has decided to provide Aadhar Enrolment
facility in selected Post Offices of
Maharashtra Circle which would
facilitate residents in getting new Aadhar cards.
Aadhar Updation Centres are functioning
w.e.f 20.06.2017 and at present total 107 Aadhar Updation Centres are
functioning in Maharashtra Circle. Out
of total 2214 Post Offices in Maharashtra Circle, Aadhar Enrolment-Cum-Updation
Centres will start functioning in 1293 Post Offices shortly.
Aadhar has been given to more than 113
crore people in India. The Central government has issued various notifications wherein it has
prescribed requirement of Aadhar for availing various services and benefits
such as opening of Bank accounts, PAN card, Income tax returns, Passport,
Ration card etc. Government of Maharashtra has also issued various
notifications wherein Aadhar is prescribed for various services like property
registration transaction, birth registration, minority scholarship scheme etc. Approximately more than 3 lakhs people all
over the country are now applying every day for updating their Aadhar details
and approximately 22-25 crores people every year will seek updates in their
demographic information on Aadhar card.
The Aadhar holders are required to keep
the details such as mobile number, email id, address updated in the Aadhar
database for availing the benefits of
Aadhar related services provided by Central and State government. They also sometimes
require to update other details such as name and photograph.
Department of Posts is already a
registrar of UIDAI. Maharashtra Circle has now become Enrolment Agency of UIDAI
for providing Aadhar Updation and Enrolment facility. The Post office staff is
being trained and certified by UIDAI to handle this work skillfully. Necessary
devices and equipment are being procured by the postal department.
