Folk music superstars The Raghu Dixit Project play a set to remember at K.J. Somaiya College in Mumbai, with Red Bull Music Presents The Raghu Dixit Project

Singer-songwriters Mali and Tejas opened the evening with a melodic set of pop tunes

February 10, Mumbai: On Friday evening, Bengaluru-based folk music band The Raghu Dixit Project played a stellar set for thousands of delighted college students, at K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering in Mumbai, with Red Bull Music Presents The Raghu Dixit Project. Mumbai-based singer-songwriters Mali and Tejas opened proceedings for the night, with a hugely enjoyable pop music set.

A proponent of classic pop tunes from the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s, Mali’s songs are inspired by people – both those closest to her, as well as those she has encountered over the years, and have impacted her in some way. Fellow singer-songwriter/pop-rock artist from Mumbai, Tejas also joined her for the show as the two played a melodic half hour-long set of pop tunes that set the stage nicely for The Raghu Dixit Project.

Playing their last show in Mumbai for a while before they set off on a mammoth tour of the UK, The Raghu Dixit Project brought their best to K.J. Somaiya College. The band played close to a two hour-long set, opening with ‘Jag Changa’, which had the gathered crowd dancing from the get-go. The set also included other favourites such as ‘Lokada Kalaji’, ‘Mysore Se Aayi’, ‘Hey Bhagwan’ and ‘Ambar’.
The next Red Bull Music show will see a special showcase of Indian hip-hop in Guwahati, with Red Bull Music Presents Raftaar, Divine, Borkung and Khasi Bloodz, on February 25.
