The Yoga Institute, Santacruz, Conducts Programmes on 5th International Day of Yoga celebrations (2019)

Mumbai 21st June 2019– ‘The Yoga Institute, Mumbai,’The Yoga Institute was founded in 1918 by Shri Yogendraji, oldest centre of Yoga in the world. This life-school was designed for the promotion of ethical and spiritual values of classical yoga. The Yoga Institute was awarded by the the prestigious Prime Minister’s Award for Outstanding Contribution to Yoga in 2018.
The Yoga Institute has celebrated 5th International Day of Yoga by conducting Yoga sessions at more than 120 countries at 500 different locations. Main highlights and programmes as listed below -

·         Conducted sessions at all major Governmental bodies like Rajbhavan, Mantralaya, Ministry of Tourism, Mumbai police,  Traffic Police, Central Excise Department, Customs Department, Food Corporation of India , Western  & Central Railways and many more.

Yoga by the Bay, the mega event of The Yoga Institute was presided by Smt. Hansaji, Director of The Yoga Institute celebrated 5th International Yoga Day at Marine Lines. Thousands of Mumbaikars throbbed together as one heart as they participated in the biggest Yoga event of the city where they experienced Samatvam, a yoga OPD. Smt. Hansaji inspired and motivated people to adopt Yoga as a holistic practice for life. Many Yoga enthusiasts, Mumbai Police, NCC Cadets, Naval Officers, Students from various schools and colleges dotted the Queens necklace experiencing the goodness of Yoga, chanting and enjoying the gentle breeze in unison.   More than fifteen thousand participants at Marine Drive Promenade benefited from the session conducted. The event was co-organised by Shaina NC, Times Of India and Dr. Mickey Mehta.

Institute conducted an outstanding session at Mantralaya – The administrative headquarters of the State Government of Maharashtra in South Mumbai. Session was attended by Senior Minister of Maharashtra Government like Mr. Chandrakant Patil – Minister of Revenue, Relief & Rehabilitation, Agriculture & Horticulture and Public Works (excluding Public Undertakings), Mr. Girish Dattatray Mahajan - the Cabinet Minister for Water Resources & Medical Education in Devendra Fadnavis ministry, Dr. Ranjit Patil – Minister of State for Home, Urban Development, Law and Judiciary; Maharashtra State, Mahadev Jagannath Jankar - Senior Cabinate Minister in Government of Maharashtra as Minister for Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries Development, Dr. Sanjay Kute - Labour Minister, Dr. Pranay Kupe (PWD or Rajya Minister), Dr. Suresh Kade (Social Welfare) along with Bureaucrats and Mantralaya officials.
Rajbhavan together with The Yoga Institute, Mumbai celebrated the 5th IDY. Shri Chennamaneni Vidyasagar Rao Honourable Governor of the Mumbai commemorated the event.
Ramdas Athawale, Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment gave his august presence at The Yoga Institute on the occasion of 5th International Yoga Day. He addressed the gathering of Sadhakas and students at the Institute. He also performed asanas along with the students.
Government Departments – Range of Government Departments took to the eco-friendly yoga mats and practised yoga with The Yoga Institute.  
Traffic Police, Central Excise Department, Customs Department, Food Corporation, Western  & Central Railways, Indian Rare Earths Limited (IREL) – a government-owned corporation in India, Air Cargo (Sahar, Andheri), Commandos, Mumbai Traffic Police (MTP) and Mumbai Police, All India Radio, Indian Postal Service, Government of Health and Welfare Ministry, Ministry of Tourism-Maharashtra, Institute  Chartered  Of Accountant BKC, Sakinaka Metro Station, International Airport
Universities- BMC/Municipal/Private Schools, Colleges and Universities - more than 1.5 lakh students and thousands of teachers and staff took part.

Corporates– The Yoga Institute celebrated IDY 2019 with much gusto and enthusiasm in various corporates. 
Siemens India, Food Corporation of India, DHL, Axis Securities, IPCA Pan India, Pfizer, American Express-Pan India, Tata Sky, Castrol, Cipla, Kiprosh, Sagar Tech Plaza, etc. to name a few.
