Government, Industry & Civil Society
Coinciding
with the birth anniversary of visionary Late Professor C.K. Prahalad and to
reaffirm the commitment of stakeholders towards its vision objectives, India@75
launched a weeklong celebration from 8th August and culminating on
14 August, the eve of our Independence Day. India@75 week will not only unite
the nation in its spirit and intention but also dwell on the past achievements
and mobilize millions of Indians to march ahead for mission 2022.
India@75 week will facilitate an
introspection of our march towards achievement of the vision objectives with
specific focus on need for an innovative approach to achieve the ambitious
targets. Further, with the union Government’s agenda resonating with the vision
of India@75 and convergence of timelines to 2022, we have a unique opportunity
to collaborate and add to the efforts of the Government on areas of common
interest to expedite the implementation process.
The week is proposed to bring a
mélange of views on a single platform so as to promote deep informal
interactions enabling stakeholders to participate, collaborate and leverage
each other’s knowledge, experience, skills and the much needed professionalism.
This week will be an integration of activities covering the vision elements of
India@75 and provide a platform for people to connect, collaborate, co- create
and celebrate through numerous on line and off line activities.
The week began with a confab in Mumbai
on “Building an inclusive India –
Harnessing the Demographic Dividend”. The confab provided a platform for
youth from different backgrounds to listen and interact with some of the best
minds from corporate and Government. The confab focused on the need for action
in the various elements of India@75, and deliberated on some of the positive
powers that need to be nurtured in making India@75 a movement of committed and
passionate people with the urge, energy and eagerness in participating and
helping India become a developed nation by 2022.
Speaking at the launch, Mr. Adi Godrej, Past President CII and
Chairman, India@75 Foundation said, "India@75
has uniquely positioned itself so as to make innovative interventions for bridging
the gaps in the endeavours of the Government, Industry and Private players for
skill development, entrepreneurship and employment generation to translate
India’s demographic profile into dividend not only for India but
globally".
The keynote speaker for India@75 Mr. Subramaniam Ramadorai, Chairman, NSDA
& NSDC said, “To meet the
aspirations of the youth and to realize our full potential we have to be ready
with a skilled and talented human pool. To ‘skill India’ is hence a national
imperative and India@75 must make it happen”.
Mr Rajan
Navani, Chairman, CII Council on India@75 said, “Besides skill development and vocational
training there is an urgent need to create synergy in the higher education
curriculum and ever evolving industry requirements to enable our millions of
graduates to be industry ready. Besides working on pilots for adult urban
illiterates, India@75 has also been working towards introduction of
experiential learning in India. This will not only create job and
entrepreneurial opportunities but will make our higher education system
more meaningful towards harnessing the demographic dividend”.
