ARYANS GOVINDA PATHAK & PARLE SPORTS CLUB TRIUMPH AT THE 5TH EDITION OF RED BULL JOD KE TOD
~ The fastest vertical race receives overwhelming response with 84 participating teams

Mumbai 19th August 2019: The 5th Edition of Red Bull Jod Ke Tod ended on a memorable note as Aryans Govinda Pathak & Parle Sports Club climbed their way to the top to become champions of the dahi handi tournament in Men’s & Women’s categories with timings of 11.62 seconds and 26.87 seconds respectively. Hindmata Govinda Pathak and Parle Sports Academy emerged runner-ups in the male and female categories respectively.
Based on the Indian tradition of dahi handi, the adventure sport for building human pyramids excited spectators and brought out the best from competitors this year. The 5th edition of Red Bull Jod Ke Tod received an overwhelming response as around 76 male teams and 8 female teams from the city’s best dahi handi mandals participated in the pre-qualifiers. Basis which 8 male teams and 6 female teams competed toe to toe at creating the fastest, tallest and strongest human pyramids in numerous rounds on 18th August to become the Red Bull Jod Ke Tod champions in Mumbai.
Ronit from winning team Aryans Govinda Pathak said, “We are delighted to win the 5th edition of Red Bull Jod Ke Tod. We have been practicing hard for this competition and it paid off really well. It is one of the most iconic and loved tournaments amongst mandals and we are very happy to have participated in this year’s edition. It was encouraging to see that the safety measures were undertaken for us with great rules and regulations. Overall very well organized tournament by Red Bull.”
Sonali Khare, team captain of Parle Sports Club said, “Red Bull Jod Ke Tod was quite a memorable and fantastic experience for us. There were huge crowds cheering for us. It was a proud feeling, being waited for and acknowledged! Feels great to be the Champions again. We can now proudly claim we are no less than men. As with all other fields, there should be no discrimination against women even in this sport. Today, parents willingly enroll their daughters for Dahi Handi tournaments. It is a huge step forward. Thanks to the energy drink giant Red Bull for providing us with this platform.”
Education, Sports & Youth Minister, Advocate Ashish Shelar, present at the event said, “It feels great to be associated with Red Bull Jod Ke Tod every year, since its inception in 2015 when the State Government proposed to make Dahi Handi an adventure sport under my supervision. Therefore, with Red Bull, while we keep the vibrant tradition of the Dahi Handi festival alive, as sports minster I appeal that we enforce and follow safety equipment and measures to have an adventurous yet safe festival with height of the human pyramid being 4 tiers and below 20 ft. It was an amazing experience to witness a great competitive spirit amongst the mandals.”
The 5th edition of Red Bull Jod Ke Tod 2019 witnessed loud cheers for the teams as they display their best balancing act to break the dahi handi in true Govinda style!
