The Marathi Film Industry Has Lost A Great All-Round Actress Says Amit Deshmukh

 Mumbai, 22nd September, 2020: With the demise of veteran Marathi film actress Ashalta Wabgaonkar, a versatile and talented actor has been lost, in the words of Cultural Affairs Minister Amit Deshmukh.

Marathi film veteran Ashalta Wabgaonkar passed away at the age of 79 on Tuesday, 22nd September. The actress passed away from COVID19 in Satara. Minister of Cultural Affairs, Shree Amit Vilasrao Deshmukh said a versatile and talented actor has been lost.

 

In his condolence message, Shree Amit Deshmukh noted that the Late Smt. Ashalta Wabgaonkar made her acting debut in Konkani and Marathi dramas. She made her first Hindi debut in the film ‘Apne Paraye’. Among her achievements, she was nominated for a Filmfare Best Supporting Actress Award for her role as a Supporting Actress in the film ‘Apne Paraye’. In the Marathi film industry, ‘Umbartha’, ‘Sutradhar’, ‘Navri Mile Navryala’ and ‘Vahinichi Maya’ were some of her best films.

 

She also studied music under the tutorship of Pandit Jitendra Abhisheki, and her book 'Gard Sabhowati', a book on music, was also popular among readers.

 

Ashalta Wabgaonkar made an indelible mark on the film industry due to her simple and natural acting. She was able to play a variety of roles. Her demise marks the loss of a versatile artist.
