IIFL-backed aims to add 50,000 customers next fiscal

Image , an IIFL-backed company and low-cost online discount broker, plans to acquire 50,000 customers in 2017-18, its CEO & Director Prakarsh Gagdani, has said. The company, which started its journey in April last year, has nearly 7,500 retail customers as on date and has evolved into low-cost financial services provider with added business segments of mutual funds and insurance distribution. “Most of the customers we have acquired are from the market and not IIFL customers. These are the customers who understand the benefits of discount broking and nearly 60 per cent of them have come from Tier-3 cities and beyond,” Gagdani said. IIFL had pumped in ₹100 crore into this venture, which is now in the process of getting demerged and listed separately (likely in June-July), he added. He also said that  will soon foray into funding (through an NBFC, which is part of IIFL Group) for IPOs, non-convertible debenture purchases, etc. Plans are also afoot to get in

Court directs petitioners to implead ITC, Ministry of Finance, SEBI amongst others in the PIL

 Mumbai, April 27, 2017: The Mumbai High Court bench comprising of Justice Manjula Chellur and Mr G S Kulkarni hearing the admission of the PIL filed by Mrs Sumitra Pednekar and others against the Union of India and state-owned insurance companies including LIC has impleaded ITC, Ministry of Finance, Agriculture and Industry and The Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in the PIL. Farmers association represented by their counsels also requested their inclusion in the PIL, which was granted by the Honourable High Court. As per directions from the Court, the concerned parties will now have to file their respective affidavits in reply to the petition within 6 weeks from now. The next hearing in the matter is likely to be held within 8 weeks from now. The Hon. India’s Gems & Jewellery exports in FY17 rises 9.85% to USD 43,156.21 mn

G&J exports account for 15.71% of the country’s total exports in FY17  Mumbai, April 27, 2017:  India’s Exports of  Gems and Jewellery  increased  9.85%  to USD 43,156.21 mn in FY17 (provisional data in April 2016 to March 2017) vis-a-vis USD 39,244.29 mn in FY16 (April 2015 to March 2016). Gross exports of  cut and polished diamonds  in FY17 increased to USD 22,783.81 mn witnessed a growth of  10.24%  in FY17 as compared to USD 20,667.79 mn in FY16. The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) sponsored by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India (GoI) released annual export performance report for FY2017 in the presence of  Mr. Praveenshankar Pandya  ( Chairman, GJEPC ) and  Mr. Sabyasachi Ray  ( Executive Director, GJEPC ).
