MUMBAI, 22nd January, 2015: After eleven glorious years of adventure and drama, MTV, the ultimate word on the youth, is back with an all new adrenalin fuelled season of its cult youth reality show Roadies. In its twelfth season, MTV Hero Roadies X2 powered by Vivo Smart Phone, is all set to shake things up as it brings on board a whole new legion of gang leaders to join the original roadie Rannvijay Singh. The new gang leaders are the Olympic medalist and boxer Vijender Singh, the charming television heartthrob Karan Kundra and the ruthless Dhoom girl Esha Deol. The fantastic four were in the city today to launch MTV Hero Roadies X2 powered by Vivo Smart Phone which goes on air from 24th January 2015 and will air every Saturday at 7PM only on MTV.
Along with the gang leaders, audiences are in for a big surprise as Roadies, the oldest and the longest running reality TV show in India which has made becoming a ‘Roadie’ synonymous to the highest achievement in life, has undergone a complete makeover. This time around, audiences will get to see participants not just competing against each other to become the ultimate ‘Roadie’ but will compete in gangs. Each ‘gang leader’ – Rannvijay, Vijender, Karan and Esha will pick five participants for their own gangs. These gangs and the gang leaders will then compete against each other through a series of tasks to eliminate each other from the show. The gang leader and the gang member that stays through the end, winning the maximum number of tasks will be adjudged as the winner of MTV Hero Roadies X2 powered by Vivo Smart Phone.
The auditions for the twelfth season of this cult youth reality show happened across four cities – Pune, Kolkata, Delhi and Chandigarh in the month of December. Thousands of hopefuls showed up at each audition venue, some even camping over night to get an early entry into the auditions! Following the audition episodes, the journey for Roadies X2 will begin in early February as the gangs ride along the scenic route from the holiest place in India, Varanasi to the birthplace of The Ganges in Nepal.
While the format may be different this time, what stays the same is the passion and the perseverance to achieve that ultimate dream – the thrill of the ride, the open road, tasks that build character and a path for a bright future. Becoming a ‘roadie’ is searching for the hero within you and Roadies X2 is all about the passion that comes along with wanting to achieve the unattainable goal!

The four gang leaders Rannvijay Singh, Vijender Singh, Karan Kundra and Esha Deol visited four cities across the country – Pune, Kolkata, Delhi and Chandigarh to audition Roadies enthusiasts for their respective gangs. Each gang leader was on the look-out for something truly unique for his or her gang. While the original Raodie Rannvijay looked for people with discipline, Vijender was on the lookout for people who were all heart. Karan’s focus was on grabbing the best strategists while Esha was clear on what she wanted – people with their eye on the prize. Being the first ever female judge and gang leader on the show, Esha brings with her something that none of the other gang leaders have – gumption and female instinct! Each leader chose several people from each city for their respective gangs which were then sorted down to five people per gang. The Roadies X2 journey which begins in early February will see all the four gang leaders riding with their four team members each from Varanasi to Nepal.
