Glenfiddich selects Rohan Matmary from Bangalore as one of the six shortlisted bartenders to compete for Glenfiddich World’s Most Experimental Bartender

Paired with musician Sonam Kalra, the duo will curate an experimental collaboration



29th August 2018 Bangalore: Glenfiddich announced Bangalore based bartender Rohan Matmary as   one of the six shortlisted contestants who will compete for the India leg of Glenfiddich World’s Most Experimental Bartender competition on 1st September.

High on innovation and experimentation, this is the first of its kind competition that challenges the norm of traditional whisky experiences through collaborations with masters in fragrance, magic, art, writing, music and fashion.


The duo Rohan and Sonam are extremely passionate in their respective fields and have challenged the stereotypes attached to bartending and music. Rohan Matmary has been working behind the bar for quite a long time as Assistant General Manager- Beverages at the BYG Brewski Brewing Company. Sonam on the other hand is a new-age musician who combines magic with music, through her soulful melodies bringing immense joy to those who watch her perform.

Rohan Matmary was selected for his cocktail, Pursuit of Happyness’. It was Rohan’s take on commercialised craft cocktails by bringing to life the unique concept of cocktail bags, like tea bags which can be bought all across the world. His blend was a combination of Pink Dragon fruit, Bergamot, Peppermint, Mysuru Mallige Tea, Honey and Ginger Ale along with the Glenfiddich 12-Year-Oldre-creating a beautiful savoury expression.

The search for the winner of India Chapter of Glenfiddich World’s Most Experimental bartender starts now and winner will be announced on 1st September, who will take part in the two-part final in Dufftown and Glasgow in November.


The winner will then proceed to compete at the global stage for the title of Glenfiddich World’s Most Experimental Bartender in Scotland. Winners of this year’s competition will also be given a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to showcase their artistry through an “Experimental Expedition”, visiting Tokyo International Bar Show and Bar Convent Brooklyn to take in two of the world's most influential bar shows.
