HINDAMATA GOVINDA PATHAK & PARLE SPORTS CLUB MAHILA DAHIHANDI PATHAK CLIMB THEIR WAY THROUGH TO VICTORY IN THE FOURTH EDITION OF RED BULL JOD KE TOD

~ The fastest vertical race receives overwhelming response with 54 participating teams

Mumbai 27^th August 2018: The 4^th Edition of Red Bull Jod Ke Tod drew its curtain on a memorable note as Hindamata Govinda Pathak & Parle Sports Club Mahila Dahihandi Pathak were crowned champions of the dahi handi tournament in Men’s & Women’s categories respectively. Pyarinagar Govinda Pathak and Parle Sports Academy emerged runner-ups in the male and female categories respectively .

Based on the Indian tradition of dahi handi, the adventure sport for building human pyramids excited spectators and brought out the best from competitors this year. The 4^th edition of Red Bull Jod Ke Tod on 26^th August, received an overwhelming response as over 48 male teams and 6 female teams from the city’s best dahi handi mandals went toe to toe at making the fastest, tallest and strongest human pyramids in numerous rounds to become the Red Bull Jod Ke Tod champions in Mumbai.

Suhas Urekar from winning team Hindamata Govinda Pathak said, “We are thrilled to win the 4^th edition of Red Bull Jod Ke Tod. With our timing of 14.40 seconds, we beat Pyarinagar Govinda Pathak. It is one of the most iconic and loved tournaments amongst mandals and we are very happy to have participated in this year’s edition.  It was encouraging to see that the safety measures were undertaken for us with great rules and regulations. Overall very well organized tournament by Red Bull.”

Sonali Khaire, team captain of Parle Sports Club Mahila Dahihandi Pathak said, “Red Bull Jod Ke Tod was quite a memorable and fantastic experience for me personally. There were huge crowds waiting to watch us. It was a proud feeling, being waited for and acknowledged! We can now proudly claim we are no less than men are. As with all other fields, there should be no discrimination against women even in this sport. Today, parents willingly come and enroll their daughters for Dahi Handi tournaments. It is a huge step forward. Thanks to brands like Red Bull for providing us with the platform.”

MLA Bandra West & BJP Mumbai President, Advocate Ashish Shelar, present at the event said, “It feels great to be associated with Red Bull Jod Ke Tod every year, since inception in 2015 when the State Government proposed to make Dahi Handi an adventure sport under my supervision. Therefore, with Red Bull, while we keep the vibrant tradition of the Dahi Handi festival alive, it is also very important that we enforce and follow safety equipment and measures to have an adventurous yet safe festival with height of the human pyramid being 4 tiers and below 20 ft. We saw an amazing turnout and experienced the exuberant atmosphere this year.”
