Galaxy’s employees (including 25 members from Mumbai) personally visited the flood-affected districts and distributed relief material to the affected people.
Each member of the thousand families received Food Items (rice, dal, oil, chana, wheat flour, salt, tea & sugar amongst others) as well as Household & Hygiene items (chaddar, satranji, candles, match boxes, mosquito repellants, soaps and floor cleaners) from Galaxy.
Mr. U. Shekhar, Managing Director, Galaxy Surfactants Limited, said, “The floods of Maharashtra created a havoc in the state with thousands of families being displaced from their homes. As an organization, Galaxy strongly believes that Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is connected with the principles of sustainability and recognizes that its business activities have wide impact on the society in which it operates. Therefore, the Company endeavors to make CSR a key business process for sustainable development of the environment and society, through its integration in the overall business approach. In line with our core CSR principles, we, at Galaxy Surfactants, have extended our whole-hearted empathy and support to 1,000 families in the flood-hit district of Sangli as we believe one of the primary responsibilities of the corporates is to also give back to the society which has created it, especially during such times of need. I take this opportunity to thank all our volunteers who have taken up the initiative to go to these villages and distribute the relief materials, villages which are difficult to access at this point of time.”
