This Karwa Chauth, Man Chaaha Khaana, Quaker Se Banana: Fuelling Sargi with the Power of 5!

Karwa Chauth is just around the corner, and it marks for another auspicious and beautiful festival for many women across the country. On this day, married women observe a fast for the long and healthy lives of their husbands. The ritual traditionally starts with the consumption of Sargi’ – a pre-dawn meal featuring a variety of fruits, sweet and savory dishes with a side of dry fruits and is traditionally consumed before sunrise, on the day of Karwa Chauth, which helps people prepare for the day-long fast.


To support those observing the fast, Quaker has curated special Sargi recipes featuring Quaker Oats Multigrain. Combining the #PowerOf5 – oats, wheat, ragi, barley, and flaxseeds – this blend, made from wholegrain oats, high in fiber to aid gut health and a good source of protein, offers the energy equivalent to 2 rotis, all while incorporating the familiar flavors of ragi and wheat.

Quaker Oats Multigrain Kheer


Ingredients:

  • Roasted Quaker Oats Multigrain
  • Skimmed Milk
  • Honey (optional)
  • Green Cardamom
  • Dry Fruits (optional)

Method:

  1. Boil milk, and simmer for 10 mins.
  2. Add Quaker Oats Multigrain and cook on a slow fire stirring continuously.
  3. When kheer thickens to an even consistency, add sugar (optional) and green cardamom powder.
  4. Cook for a few more minutes, stirring constantly.
  5. Remove from fire, add dry fruits (optional) and serve hot.

 

Quaker Oats Multigrain Chilla


Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (100g) Quaker Oats Multigrain - grind to a powder in a mixer
  • 3 tbsp (30g) gram flour (besan)
  • 1½ cups (300g) water, approx.
  • 1 tsp dry fenugreek leaves (kasoori methi)
  • 1 small (50g) onion - very finely chopped
  • 1 small (50g) tomato - very finely chopped
  • 1-2 green chillies - deseeded and very finely chopped
  • 1 tbsp (5 gms) chopped fresh coriander
  • Salt to taste
  • ½ tsp garam masala
  • ¼ tsp turmeric (haldi)

Method:

  1. Mix all ingredients of the batter together in a bowl.
  2. Beat well, adding enough water to make a batter of pouring consistency.
  3. Heat a non-stick pan, grease lightly and pour 1 small ladle of batter.
  4. Spread lightly. Turn after 2 mins, when the edges get slightly brown. Cook the other side.
  5. Serve hot with mint chutney.
