INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT THE MOVIE’ SOUTHPAW’

The word ‘Southpaw’ from which the film takes its name from is a reference to the stance traditionally adopted by a left-handed boxer. It is also a slang for a left-handed person.

The song that is played at the end of this film titled "Wise Man" by Frank Ocean wasn’t mean to first feature in Southpaw. The song was originally written for the class Quentin Tarantino directed movie, Django Unchained but was removed from the final cut of the movie and was repurposed for Southpaw.



To play the role of a boxer, Jake Gyllenhaal trained for 8 months straight, twice a day, every day including weekends!
