OSH Chennai & SAFE South India commences
- Expos organized by UBM India to focus on Occupational Safety & Health, Security & Surveillance
Chennai, 29 June 2017: UBM India, India’s leading exhibition organizer, launched the 4th edition of the Occupational Safety & Health (OSH Chennai) Expo (being held on 29-30 June, 2017) as well as the 3rd edition of the Security and Fire Expo (SAFE- South India) scheduled between 29th June and 1st July at the Chennai Trade Centre, today. Taking a holistic view of safety, security and surveillance, both the expos - the largest of their kind in South India - brought together renowned Indian and international exhibitors, consultants, business experts and key government officials on an industry platform. They exchanged views on best global practices and sought solutions for challenges pertaining to safety and security issues within the workplace and beyond. With over 105 key exhibitors in the current edition, the expos taken together have registered an impressive 50 per cent Y-O-Y growth.
Speaking on the occasion of the launch of the 2017 edition of OSH Chennai and SAFE South India, Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India said, “Worldwide, the aim of governments is to arrive at a situation where citizens have a right to a safe and healthy environment at all levels, through a system of defined rights, responsibilities and duties, and where the highest priority is accorded to the principle of prevention. The OSH Chennai Expo was inaugurated by Chief Guest, Mr. Prem Anand Sinha, IPS, DIG, Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Chennai; and key dignitaries, Shri S.Sreekumar, Regional Executive Director, Southern Region, Airports Authority of India, Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt of India; Shri S Ponsingh Mohanram,Additional Director of Industrial Safety and Health, Chennai, Ministry of Labour & Employment, Government of Tamil Nadu; Shri Varun Buddhiraja, Director, Euro Safety Footwear India Pvt. Ltd.
Shri. G.M.E.K Raj, Director General (Retd.) DGFASLI, Govt of India; and Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India, among other players in the industry.
OSH Chennai 2017 is supported by key associations such as the Gujarat Safety Council, Indian Technical Textile Association, Indian Society of Ergonomics,National Small Industries Corporation The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) and Aerial Platform Association of India (APAOI). The expo saw the participation of top-of-the-line players of the industry including Amazon, Acme Safetywears Limited, Accent Industries Ltd., Bata India Ltd., Euro Safety Footwear India Pvt. OSH also includes a two-day knowledge sharing seminar and workshop that will focus on topics such as ‘Adoption of Industrial Best Practices To Achieve World Class Safety’ , ‘Creating Psychologically Healthy Workplaces’, ‘Women and OSH – A Holistic Approach’ and ‘Safety Issues in the Construction Industry’. Eminent speakers at the conference include experts and consultants from reputed organisations such as Reliance Industries Limited, Mahanagar Gas Limited, DGFASLI (Retd), AcuiZen Technologies Singapore Pte. Ltd.etc. The show in association with Tribe Ltd. has organized a two day workshop that focuses on “Behavioural and Cultural Based Safety” as a part of the main conference. The workshop provides a comprehensive insight into the World of Behavioural and Cultural based safety delivered by Nick Wharton, Director at Tribe Cultural Change.
Along with the OSH Chennai Expo, UBM India also hosted the 3rd edition of Security and Fire Expo 2017 (SAFE South India) which was inaugurated by Chief GuestMr. Abhay Kumar Singh, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Chennai, Tamil Nadu; and Mr. Yogesh Mudras, Managing Director, UBM India amidst a congregation of dignitaries.. The three day trade show is supported by the Electronic Security Association of India (ESAI) and Asian Professional Security Association(APSA).
SAFE-South India 2017 offered market-entry and business opportunities to the industry professionals in the region who view security as a well planned, prioritized and strategic investment, rather than a knee jerk reaction. In its third year, SAFE India has grown in size and depth, attracting industry leaders and key exhibitors including its Premier Plus Partners eSSL, Hikvision, Mark Electronics GPS, Unicam Systems and TVT; its Premier Partners In4 Solutions & Zkteco, Road Point India, Starex & Orbit. Other key participants at the expo include Vamosys, Hash Control, Swipe Technologies, Spectra, Main Hardware, Vitaran, Matrix Comsec, Micro & Super Micro. Over 70 renowned Indian and international security brands were showcased with close to 15 new brands & profitable business modules being introduced in the emerging market. The expo created an optimal environment for establishing professional relationships with industry influencers. Security and Safety managers from Hospitality, IT/BPO & Service Industry, Real Estate, Port Authorities, Power Plants, Logistics, Construction, Architecture, Automobile, Manufacturing, Retail, Jewellery, Health, Education, IT, Networking, Telecoms, Automation and BFSI were also present.
The SAFE South India expo comes to security professionals at a time when the government has shown its commitment to enhance its security budget by as much as 35 per cent, which includes creation of a dedicated homeland security department, developing co-ordinated intelligence gathering, protecting critical infrastructure and upgrading maritime security.
