The agreement will also see the Centre developed as a talent hub for the sports of boxing and wrestling, with exceptional athletes being scouted to the JSW-led Inspire Institute of Sport (IIS), the country’s first privately funded, High-Performance Olympic Training Centre, based in Bellary, Karnataka. Under the scope of the agreement, JSW Sports will fund the renovation and refurbishment of the boxing and wrestling halls and the gymnasium among other sporting facilities at the Centre and appoint professional management and technical staff to assist in the identifying and  development of sporting talent from the region.

The agreement was signed by Mr. Parth Jindal, Director, JSW Sports and D. S. Dahiya Director Students’ Welfare on the behalf of CCSHAU in the presence of Prof. K.P. Singh, Vice Chancellor of CCS Haryana Agricultural University. Speaking about the partnership, Parth Jindal said, “The Giri centre within the HAU is one of the most renowned sporting institutes in the region. When it was built it was one of the foremost institutes in the country and even today several of Haryana’s and India’s top athletes are products of this fine institute. On signing this MOU it is our endeavor to bring back the Giri center to its former glory and give back to the athletes of the region, and to a place which is the home of my late grand father OP Jindal. This institute will also serve as a feeder center to our high performance training institute - IIS and is something JSW and the entire Jindal family is very excited about.
Welcoming the agreement with JSW Sports, Dr. Singh said, “CCSHAU welcomes this partnership with JSW Sports to support the development of infrastructure and talent at the Giri Centre. Having been home to stars like Saina Nehwal, Vijender Singh and Pooja Dhanda in the past, this partnership will provide a boost to our efforts to further develop talent from the region.”
The sports arm of the $13 billion JSW Group Conglomerate has been working closely with public institutions and federations to help develop India’s vast sporting potential. Apart from supporting athletes in Olympic disciplines over the past 6 years, the Group also led the establishment of the Inspire Institute of Sport, a High-Performance training centre for the sports of boxing, wrestling, judo, athletics and swimming. Last week, the group signed on as High Performance Partners for the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) till the Paris 2024 Summer Olympics.
