The Marathi Bhasha Gaurav Din 2025 was celebrated with great enthusiasm at a special event organized by Maharashtra Postal Circle at Mumbai GPO. The day was dedicated to honoring the rich heritage and legacy of the Marathi language. This day coincides with the birth anniversary of the esteemed poet, Vishnu Waman Shirwadkar (Kusumagraj), whose birth date, February 27, was declared as Marathi Language Day by the Maharashtra Government in 2013.
Eminent calligrapher Achyut Palav, honoured with the prestigious Padma Shri award was felicitated during the event. Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Palav highlighted his journey from childhood to mastering calligraphy. He showcased his remarkable calligraphy skills by creating live artwork on the theme of the Post Office and the Marathi language.
Shri Ganesh Matkari, a distinguished writer, critic, and filmmaker, shared his thoughts on the role of language in literature and cinema, inspiring attendees with his insights.On the occasion a Marathi Poetry Writing Competition was held and the winners were awarded with certificates.
The event concluded with a brief address by Shri Amitabh Singh, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Postal Circle, who extended his congratulations to all participants and emphasized the significance of preserving and promoting Marathi as a language.
The day was a testament to the deep-rooted cultural richness of Marathi and the continued efforts to preserve its legacy through art, literature, and the postal service.
