India Post Celebrates Vasant Panchami at Mumbai GPO
Mumbai, 23 January 2026:
Vasant Panchami at Mumbai General Post Office (GPO) came alive as India Post seamlessly blended culture, learning, and communication through Philately and Gyan Post Services.
A beautifully designed Special Cover Cancellation, featuring Books, a Sitar, and an Inkpot, was released, symbolizing knowledge, creativity, and the spirit of Vasant Panchami.
The event was graced by the dignitaries Smt. Rekha Q.A. Rizvi, Director, Mumbai GPO; Smt. Astha Jain, SSPOs Mumbai West Division; Shri Aasim Khan, SSPOs Mumbai East Division; Shri Shankar Pawar, Principal, Colaba Municipal Secondary School, Fort; and Shri Santosh Kulkarni, AD (PSR), Maharashtra Circle, who were present on the dais.
Children from Colaba Municipal Secondary School, Fort, along with the staff of Mumbai GPO, actively participated in the event. The children wrote letters to their parents sharing their experience of visiting Mumbai GPO.To express gratitude towards soldiers on duty, the children also wrote postcards addressed to them and posted them in the letter box as part of the ‘Sandese Veeron Ko’ campaign, launched at the Mumbai GPO premises on 21 January 2026, gaining hands-on experience of the traditional letter-posting process. The children further visited the Philately Bureau, viewed the exquisite collection of stamps, and took photographs at the Selfie Point.
