Deloitte Selects ‘Maverick’ B-School Winners for West Zone

SIBMPune, TISS Mumbai and JBIMS Mumbai win regional round

and qualify for Deloitte’s Maverick Challenge Season IV Finals

Mumbai, August 25: Deloitte a large professional services organization, concluded the West Zone regional round of its industry-academia connect programme Maverick season IV. SIBM Pune, TISS Mumbai and JBIMS Mumbai emerged winners from the 20 teams that competed from the West Zone, and will now face the winners from other Zones at this season’s grand finale, that will be held at Deloitte’s Hyderabad office on September 04, 2015.

The regional round, held at the Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Pune (SIBM), posed challenges to test the contestants’ ability to propose and defend solutions to complex and real business challenges in a simulated business environment. Both the qualifying teams demonstrated their strength to work in teams, and participated in live debates & presentations that were evaluated by experienced business leaders from Deloitte India.

Maverick debuted in 2012with India’s top 30 B-schools and over 6,000 students. One of the reasons for its successful run in the 4^th year, is the opportunity it presents for cultivating a solutions mindset and the ability to highlight consultative skills. This has been a major pull in the student community as witnessed by the year-on-year growth in participation. This season saw over 15,500 registrations from over 100 B-schools. 

The other two regional rounds will be held at IMT, Ghaziabad (North Zone) and GLIM, Chennai (South Zone) per the schedule below.

Apart from the main business solutions challenge, three additional competitions are held on the sidelines of Maverick. The ‘War of Bands’ competition, saw bands from various schools pit their musical skills against each other. The finalists for the War of Bands will be decided at the conclusion of the regional rounds, and will compete against each other at the grand finale in Hyderabad. ‘Be the One’  - a unique contest where students are encouraged to send in their personal story of successes/ achievements that helped shape them into the person they are, saw several participants step up and share their stories. ‘Roll the Reel’ is the third contest that is aimed at providing students with the opportunity to unleash their creative skills leveraging videos and new-age motion graphics.
