Mithibai’s Paparazzi impacted hundreds of lives through its’ social initiative
Mumbai, Maharashtra, 25th August, 2016: In recent times, colleges have been actively involved in performing social acts around the city. But the students of Mithibai College’s Media festival ‘Paparazzi’ took it a notch higher by their extensive Corporate Social Responsibility initiative that lasted more than a month, starting from July. Performing street plays to save food, feeding the homeless, accompanying the old and gifting the unfortunate were on the agenda of the team. Picking out the common and important issues sustaining in the society, the team performed their latest social act on 14th August.
“Students have touched so many brave lives throughout the course of six weeks. They’ve made them feel special and hopeful. We, together as a part of this society must ensure the continuation of such noble acts in the future. I am proud of Team Paparazzi!” says, Dr. Rajpal Shripat Hande, Principal of Mithibai College.
On a cloudy Sunday, Team Paparazzi didn’t expect the amount of enthusiasm and support they received from the audience on the enactment of their street play, ‘Anna Apoorna’. The play highlighted how different food items are being misused to gain maximum profits out of their sale. More than 450 people gathered around to witness the event unfolding on the rainy surfaces of Juhu Beach and Carter Road (Bandra) on 10th July.
What followed was a three week long social initiative. On 31st July, during a heavy downpour, team Paparazzi paved the streets of Vile Parle and Andheri distributing lunch to more than 250 underprivileged and homeless people.
The following week witnessed a beautiful Friendship Day celebration as students visited more than 200 senior citizens belonging to Cardinal Gracias Destitutes Home in Santacruz (E) and Assisi Bhavan situated in Goregaon (E) on 7th August. Apart from tying Friendship bands to every person associated with the old age home and distributing sugar-free sweets, a round of Housie was played followed by joyous dancing and singing to old tunes.
The last social activity that concluded their heartwarming journey was a visit to Snehasadan, an orphanage in Andheri (E) on 14th August, the eve of Independence Day. Hands full of chocolates and gifts, Team Paparazzi played football and various other games with children. Lastly, the event concluded on a patriotic note, when children were asked about that one thing they would like to do in celebration of India’s 70th Independence Day.
