Nagpur Rejoices the “Taste of Home” with mouthwatering Maharashtrian Food Festival

Tourism Development Corporation associates with Lokmata Sumatitai Suklikar Smruti Pratishthan to showcase the various culinary offerings of
Maharashtra through the Maharashtra Food Festival in Nagpur from 20th
to 25th December 2017.The inauguration of this festival was graced
by Shri. Jaykumar Rawal, Hon’ble Minister of Tourism and (EGS), Government of
Maharashtra in the presence of Shri. Madan Yerawar, Hon’ble State Minister of
Tourism, Government of Maharashtra, Smt. Nanda Jichkar, Mayor of Nagpur, Shri. Nitin
Gadre, (IAS), Principal Secretary, Tourism & Culture, Government of
Maharashtra, Shri.Vijay
Waghmare,(IAS) Managing Director, MTDC, Shri. Aashutosh Rathod,
Joint Managing Director, MTDC, Smt. Swati Kale, General Manager, MTDC, Shri
Hanumant Hede, Senior Regional Manager, RO Nagpur, MTDC, Dr. Uday

Maharashtrian food has created a benchmark for itself all
over the world with certain dishes being known as the specialty of the region.
The state also provides a variety of dishes that are eaten across the
world. Nagpur is a major and third most populated city of the state and
is famous for its art, culture and cuisine. The six days festival is offering
numerous authentic vegetarian and non-vegetarian Maharashtrian delicacies about
which most foodies have only heard but have never got the opportunity to taste
them. The authentic cuisine both in vegetarian and non-vegetarian segment
ranges from mildly spicy to fiery hot! The mouth-watering cuisines will range
from Konkan (Seafood), Malwan (Kombdi vade, Malvani mutton curry etc) Khandesh
(Bharlela Wanga, Sev bhaji etc) and Varhadi & Saogi which is one of the
famous cuisines of the Vidarbha region, the Marathwada cuisine will also be
presented. The stalls will also display Mumbai’s street food and local dishes
like Poha and Vada Pav.
During this event the
announcement was made on the promotion of Amravati- Yavatmal Wani Mine Tour.
MTDC has also introduced Bodalkasa,
an attractive nature trail with wide dam and enlivenment, which is about 135 KM
from Nagpur, in order to boost tourism in Vidarbha. MTDC’s Bodalkasa Resort is about 7 KM from Magezari Gate
of Nagzira, wildlife century and has 24 deluxe rooms with restaurants and a
conference hall which has immense prospects to entice travellers across the
globe. The Vidarbha Darshan
customized tours are introduced for the two cities - Nagpur and Amaravati. The
different pick up and drop points will cover major iconic places of Vidarbha
and will provide a glimpse of these cities. Under this customized tour packages,
from Nagpur to Tadoba, Nagzira Wild Life Sanctuary, Ramtek, Pawnar, Sevagram,
Wardha, Bor wildlife will be included. Amaravati will have tours to Chikhaldara
,
Semadoh , Shegaon and Lonar .
MTDC has also held a meeting with
several hotels and restaurant chains in Nagpur to create awareness about this
event by displaying the details in brief. The food extravaganza will be at
SCZCC and 50 stalls will be accommodated which includes food related items. The
stalls will display snacks, processed food, organic products and spices from
across the state. Apart from food there will activities like
a musical show by popular Marathi singer Savani Ravindra, fashion show by LAD
College, lavani performance, rock band show and folk dances. The art forms,
handlooms and handicrafts of the state will also be exhibited by Indrayani
handlooms and many self-help groups.
Speaking on the Occasion, Shri. Jaykumar Rawal,
Hon’ble Minister of Tourism & (EGS), Government of Maharashtra, “The aim behind organising such festival is to bring
together people from different walks of life to taste the diverse cuisine of
the State. Maharashtra is the only state which offers experiential tourism and an
authentic form of experiential travel and exploring the food culture of a state
is the best way to do so. The food festival in Nagpur will also offer
traditional cuisine of Maharashtra that is guaranteed to satisfy the taste buds
of every traveller. The Hospitality & Tourism industry in Maharashtra is
expected to grow at a rapid pace between now & 2025. We are also planning
to tie-up with the private hospitality colleges to offer internship to the
students in our resorts and generate employment opportunities.”
Speaking on the Occasion, Shri.Madan Yerawar,
Hon'ble State Tourism Minister, Government of Maharashtra, “We
are pleased to promote the Maharashtra Food Festival in Nagpur and showcase the
traditional culture of the city. Our constant endeavour is to highlight the
travel experience by offering various unique offerings. I certainly believe that
the Maharashtra Food Festival in Nagpur will entice and engage huge number of
the domestic as well as foreign visitors in order to boost the tourism in the
state.”
