First IIFL Wealth U-14 ATF Tournament commences in Delhi

Tournament will host 4 categories, U14 Girls, Singles and Doubles, U-14 Boys, Singles and Doubles

Monday, 22nd January 2018, New Delhi: The first IIFL Wealth U-14 ATF Tournament commenced in Delhi, this morning, at the DLTA. The tournament under the IIFL Investment Managers CSR Initiative, EKA is the only Hospitality ATF Tournament in the country and the first post a significant break in the country. 

Hospitality tournaments are significant in the calendar as, all main draw players are given food and stay during their run of the tournament. 

The tournament which has participants from India and South Asian Countries, is divided into four categories, U-14 Girls, Singles and Doubles, U-14 Boys, Singles and Doubles.

Amongst the Singles Draw for the girls, competition seems stiff with Sanjana Sirimalla seeded number 1, based on her ATF ranking of 43 while Y Dhamija seeded second in the draw, follows closely with her ranking of 45 on the ATF Circuit. V Adkar, third seed amongst the girls, follows with an ATF Ranking of 78.

IN the  boys single draw, competition seems more open with Vishesh Patel top seeded based on his ATF Ranking of 50, and his closest competition second seeded, Chirag Duhan in the draw with an ATF Ranking of 70. V Prakash with an ATF ranking of 89 is seeded third in the men’s single draw with an ATF Ranking of 87. 

Top seeds sail through day 1 of the IIFL Wealth U-14 ATF Tournament in Delhi

Monday, 22nd January 2018, New Delhi: Top seeds, Sanjana Sirimalla, and Vinesh Patel, sailed through Day 1 of  IIFL Wealth U-14 ATF Tournament in Delhi in the U-14 Girls and Boys categories respectively. 

IN the Single U-14 Girls Draw, Sanjana who is ranked 50 on the ATF Circuit, crushed, India’s Ananya Manchandana, who had entered the main draw through qualifiers, 6-0,6-1. However, qualifier Renne Singla had an easier day on court, when her opponent second seeded Y Dhamija, retired hurt during the second set. Renne Singla who is currently ranked 472 on the ATF circuit will now face wild card entry R Poka on Day 2 of the  of the IIFL Wealth U-14 ATF Tournament at DLTA.

On Day 1 of the boys U-14 Singles, the top 5 seeds had an easy morning, with only third seeded V Prakash losing to Qualifier O Choudhary Saharia 6-1, 6-1. Top seeded Vishesh Patel, proved his top billing defeating Qualifier S Nathin Ram, 6-0, 6-0.  Vishesh will now meet Wild Card entry, Manas Dhamne, who is through to the second day of  IIFL Wealth U-14 ATF Tournament in Delhi post a strong first round win, defeating ATF ranked Shine Tokas 6-0,6-1.

Matches commence at the DLTA at 8:00 am and conclude at 4:00 PM on all days. Doubles commence, 23rd January 2017.
