Maharashtra Postal Circle and MSRLM Join Hands to Empower Rural Women


Mumbai, November 8, 2024: In a significant move to boost rural livelihoods, Maharashtra Postal Circle, Department of Posts, and Maharashtra State Rural Livelihoods Mission (MSRLM) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to provide logistic support to rural women entrepreneurs.

Under this partnership, the Department of Posts will offer parcel services, including cash-on-delivery (CoD) facilities, to rural women self-help groups (SHGs) affiliated with MSRLM. This will enable these women to market and sell their products across the state, promoting economic empowerment and self-sufficiency.

Key Highlights of the MoU:

  • Logistic Support: Department of Posts will provide door-to-door delivery services for products made by rural women SHGs.
  • Cash-on-Delivery (CoD) Facility: CoD services will be available for customers, ensuring timely payment to rural women entrepreneurs.
  • Free Pick-up services: Available from their premises, when the monthly business exceeds 10,000/- at a single location across Maharashtra.
  • Dak Niryat Kendra (DNK): One stop shop for all parcels to be delivered in foreign countries wherein all the services from packaging, booking, custom clearance, etc. will be provided under one roof.
  • Empowerment of Rural Women: The partnership aims to promote economic empowerment and self-sufficiency among rural women.


The MoU is a significant step towards promoting rural livelihoods and empowering women in Maharashtra. With the Department of Posts' extensive network and MSRLM's expertise in rural development, this partnership is poised to make a positive impact on the lives of rural women entrepreneurs.
